AI Safety Course Application Reviewer – BlueDot Impact

AI Safety Course Application Reviewer

Help us review applications for our intensive AI safety courses.

Apply by 16 Feb

Who we are

We’re a non-profit that runs courses on some of the world’s most pressing problems. We’re looking for reviewers to help evaluate applicants to our 5-day AI safety courses.

We currently run the world’s largest courses on AI Safety, with a graduate community of over 2,000 individuals working in all the major AI companies, top universities and governments. The course is widely regarded as the go-to location to learn about AI Alignment, and the AI Safety Fundamentals website has over 10,000 unique visitors each month.

You can learn more about BlueDot Impact on our website.

What you’ll do

Reviewers will evaluate applicants to our 5-day AI safety courses to help support decisions about which applicants to admit onto our courses.

We currently run these 5-day AI safety courses weekly:

The application deadline for each course is the Thursday before the course starts. We receive 200-300 applications in total.

You’ll work until the end of March 2025, with the possibility of an extension.

We expect there to be 5-7 hours of work per week, which will be distributed across the reviewers. We expect reviewing each application to take 2-3 minutes, depending on the length of the application.

Location and compensation

Location: Fully remote. We accept applications from anywhere in the world.

Compensation: £30/hour. You will be hired as a contractor and responsible for your own taxes. In the UK this is usually tax-free unless you earn more than £1,000 from self-employment per tax year (guidance). You can also do this as an unpaid volunteer for visa or conflict of interest reasons – opting to go without payment will not affect whether we select you for this role.

Dates: Until end of March 2025.

Times: Flexible. You will be given access to an online interface and can do the work whenever it suits you, as long as all applications are reviewed by the Thursday before the course starts.

About you

We are looking for someone who is keen to help funnel budding talent to work on AI safety.

To apply for this role, you must:

  • Understand core AI safety concepts. For example, you might have previously conducted AI safety research or facilitated our alignment course.
  • Have familiarity with the AI safety landscape.
  • Be able to fairly evaluate applications in a reasonable time.
  • Be fluent in English and be able to use basic IT such as Google Docs and Slack.

You might be particularly good for this role if you:

  • Have previously facilitated a BlueDot Impact course
  • Have previous experience evaluating applications

Apply for this role

The application process consists of two stages:

  • Stage 1: Initial application (<10 minutes).
  • Stage 2: Paid work sample (30 mins).

The work sample will involve you judging and providing feedback on sample applications that we provide. If we ask you to do this, we will pay you £15 for the time you spend on this.

If you have previously facilitated with us, you can provide a briefer initial application.

We’ll be reviewing applications on a rolling basis. The deadline to apply is 16 February 2025.
