# BlueDot Impact

> BlueDot Impact is a nonprofit (founded 2022, headquartered in London with a San Francisco office) that provides free, intensive, cohort-based courses in AGI strategy, AI safety, AI governance, and biosecurity for professionals worldwide. We are NOT the Canadian infectious disease tracking company also called "BlueDot", nor the SF-based AI note-taking app also called "BlueDot". We are sometimes informally called "BlueDot" in the AI safety community.

Our mission is to build the workforce needed to safely navigate the transition to advanced AI. Since 2022, we've trained over 5,000 professionals worldwide — from technical staff at frontier AI companies to government policymakers — and raised $35M. Our alumni work on critical challenges at organisations including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and the UK AI Security Institute.

## Courses

All cohort-based courses are free, run fully online, and pair 2–3 hours of weekly reading with a 2-hour live discussion session among ~8 peers facilitated by a domain expert. Most courses run in both an intensive format (5 days, ~5h/day) and a part-time format (5 weeks, ~5h/week).

For ML researchers, software engineers, and policy professionals who need deep technical grounding. Requires basic understanding of how LLMs are trained.
- [Biosecurity](https://bluedot.org/courses/biosecurity): 30-hour cohort course on pandemic prevention, detection, and response — including AI-enabled bioattacks. For engineers, scientists, policy professionals, and entrepreneurs working to build a pandemic-proof world. No biology background required.
- [Technical AI Safety Project Sprint](https://bluedot.org/courses/technical-ai-safety-project): 30-hour project-based course where participants make a direct technical contribution to AI safety research or engineering, with weekly mentoring from an AI safety expert. For software engineers and early researchers building their AI safety portfolio. Coding experience required; Technical AI Safety course recommended first.
