## Who is BlueDot Impact?

We're a philanthropic startup **building the workforce that protects humanity**.

Since 2022, we've trained over 10,000 people in AI safety and biosecurity. Our alumni work at Anthropic, DeepMind, the UK AI Safety Institute, and dozens of other organisations shaping how transformative technologies affect the world.

We now train over 1,000 people a month, and are deploying over $1M per month in grants to accelerate the most exceptional talent coming through our pipelines. We're a small team headquartered in San Francisco. We've raised $34M from Coefficient Giving.

## **Why this role matters**

The AGI Strategy course is the AI safety field's front door. It's our flagship introductory course, and the place we route most people who want to understand the field's threat models, interventions, and organisations. Demand for this course has quadrupled in just 6 months between January and June, from 300 applications/mo to 1,300/mo.

The course has outgrown our team’s capacity, and it's currently nobody's whole job to make it excellent. As a result the curriculum is not keeping up with the latest developments in the field and we don't have the capacity to identify and accelerate every exceptional participant who comes through.

You'll own the course end to end: the curriculum, strategy and positioning, who gets in, and who to invest additional resources in. Your taste decides what thousands of people read when they first take the field seriously, and your judgment determines which of them we prioritise for grants and further support.

## **What you'll do**

**Own the course strategy**

- Decide who this course is for: which shapes of people the field most needs, who we should attract, and where the acceptance bar sits.
- Grow the applicant pool by improving the positioning, writing social media posts, building referral loops, and developing partnerships with people who have strong followings.

**Decide what the course teaches**

- Own the curriculum. You decide what gets taught. If a resource doesn’t exist, then you write it yourself.
- Keep it current so the course reflects the crazy shifts in the AI space within weeks of them happening.
- Make the course more challenging so the top participants get more value out of it.

**Find the best people and accelerate them**

- Take 1-1 calls with the most promising participants. Give them opinionated advice on their next step and point them at the right places: jobs, fellowships, grants, and our deeper-dive courses.

**Run an excellent course**

- Ensure the top participants finish the course. The most exceptional people love the experience and leave motivated to continue their AI safety journeys.
- Build a bench of excellent facilitators to make the learning experience motivating and maximally useful.
- You won't do this alone: two course ops staff work with you on the inbox, onboarding, and round logistics, so your time goes to strategy, curriculum, and people.

## **About you**

You might be a great fit if you:

- **Have experience navigating the AI safety ecosystem.** You've done an AI safety fellowship (Astra, MATS, GovAI, Generator, IAPS, ERA) and can map the orgs, threat models, and strategy cruxes. You know where a promising person should go next.
- **Write in public.** You have an opinionated blog or a body of LessWrong posts. A smart newcomer can follow your writing.
- **Have taste in what's worth reading.** You hold falsifiable opinions about which assumptions, resources, and interventions matter.
- **Spot exceptional people fast.** You're energised by 1-1s with exceptional people, you've done selection or advising before, and you can name people you backed before their success was obvious.
- **Default to action.** Your instinct is to launch a two-week experiment rather than spending months writing a doc. You fix and improve things fast.

Bonus points if you've been a BlueDot facilitator or alum, run your own fellowship or teaching program, or evaluated talent for grants or admissions.

We encourage speculative applications: most strong candidates won't meet all these criteria!

## **What we offer**

- **The front door to AI safety:** You'll own the main entry point to AI safety and design how thousands of people first meaningfully engage with the field each year.
- **Real autonomy:** The course is yours. Our expense policy is "[act in BlueDot's best interest](https://blog.bluedot.org/p/expenses)", unlimited PTO, minimal bureaucracy.
- **Location:** San Francisco strongly preferred, working in person with the team. We're open to London-based or remote for exceptional candidates. US visa sponsorship available.
- **$150-200k salary** depending on experience, 10% employer 401(k) contribution (no match required), and comprehensive health insurance.
